Ian Austin, defending a wafer thin majority of 22 (twenty two) has decided to effectively end his parliamentary career by resigning the Labour whip, and sitting as an independent MP.
He cited a "culture of extremism, antisemitism and intolerance" as his reasons for quitting the party.
But DOESN'T want to be part of The Independent Group.
In barely a week, TIG has gone from the party everyone wants to join, to the party no-one wants to join.
Good work, Chukka!

A few more details are good.
The link is from the Guardian.
...Labour called on Austin to resign his marginal seat and trigger a byelection, but he said he would not do so. An MP since 2005, Austin hung on to his seat in 2017 by just 22 votes over the Conservatives.
Party insiders had thought that Austin was the most likely to quit of Labour’s remaining disaffected MPs, but there is intense concern in some quarters that Corbyn needs to engage with the issues raised by the defectors or risk more resignations in the coming days.
This anti-semitism thing definitely needs to be dealt with in public. Just what is accused? when and where and why and how? Looked at from top to bottom. Is it real; or nit-picking and behind-hand politicking - hypocritical? Who has raised it? What reason have they to make it a mountain if it is a molehill? This person or group has been very critical of somebody, has that person always been in Labour and always been Corbyn? Or is he copping flak because he didn't act against the accused person? If so why?
Is this an Israeli government attempt to interfere in a foreign country's political system? Is that appropriate for a foreign democracy to undertake? Why are they doing this? Is there a right wing plot against the left-wing?
If I am confused I bet other people are too. Jeremy Corbyn should hold a television conference on this or some such with an interviewer who won't go off on a right or left wing biased approach.
And left-hand who is Chukka? It's confusing to have pet denigration names for all politicians. I'm not dissing any Chukka at present, should I be? Would you explain so I can decide if he goes on my short list of Snafus.
The anti-Semitism smears are simply a ruse to try and discredit Corbyn. There is not any evidence at all of his being anti-Semitic.
